The Kenya Horticultural Society (KHS) Nakuru District stands as a dynamic and welcoming community, currently boasting approximately 50 passionate members. We are bound by a deep love for horticulture and a profound appreciation for the natural world. Our membership is diverse, encompassing individual gardening enthusiasts, seasoned horticultural professionals, and even small businesses that recognize the value of connecting with the green sector. We extend a warm invitation to anyone in the Nakuru region and beyond who shares our passion for gardening, landscaping, and the broader world of plants.
Our Core Mission and Diverse Activities:
- Inclusive Membership: We believe the joy of horticulture should be accessible to all. For a modest annual membership fee of 2000 KES for individuals and 6000 KES for small businesses, members gain access to a wealth of resources, networking opportunities, and engaging activities. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.
- Regular Monthly Meetings: Cultivating Community and Knowledge: Our monthly meetings serve as the cornerstone of our community. These gatherings provide a relaxed setting for members to connect, share their experiences, and learn from one another. We discuss upcoming events, exchange gardening tips, and foster a sense of camaraderie that strengthens our collective passion.
- Enriching Educational Events: Expanding Horticultural Horizons: We are committed to providing our members with access to cutting-edge horticultural knowledge. We organize a variety of educational events, including:
- Garden Visits: We embark on inspiring excursions to both local and regional gardens, showcasing diverse landscaping styles, innovative planting techniques, and the beauty of well-maintained green spaces.
- Flower Shows: We celebrate the artistry of floral design and the beauty of cultivated flowers through captivating flower shows, offering opportunities for members to display their own creations and admire the work of others.
- Expert Talks and Workshops: We invite renowned experts from corporate companies, academic institutions, and specialized organizations like Seed Balls Kenya to share their insights on a wide range of horticultural topics. These sessions provide invaluable opportunities for members to learn about new trends, best practices, and innovative solutions.
- Meaningful Community Engagement: Contributing to a Greener Nakuru: We recognize the importance of giving back to our community and protecting the environment. Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is evident in our active participation in:
- Tree Planting Initiatives: We organize and participate in tree planting events, contributing to reforestation efforts and promoting environmental sustainability.
- Other various environmental protection activities that support a greener Nakuru.
- Continuous Knowledge Sharing: Staying Ahead of the Curve: We are dedicated to providing our members with access to the latest horticultural information and techniques. We facilitate knowledge sharing through workshops, demonstrations, and informal discussions, ensuring that our members are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
- Structured Operational Framework: Ensuring Smooth and Effective Execution: To ensure the success of our activities and meetings, we adhere to a structured operational framework.
